-
5lb Bag – 2.5 lbs of Organic Rye Berries and 2.5 lbs of our manure-enriched substrate blend
Both sizes come sealed in a thick autoclavable grow bag with a self-healing injection port and optimized 0.5-micron filter for superior gas exchange.
Note: We primarily aim to use rye for these products; however, due to supply chain variability, grain types may occasionally vary and substitute options like red milo sorghum, corn, or other grains when necessary to maintain quality and availability.
About Our Substrates
CVA | Contamination-Resistance for Hobbyists
Our unique CVA blend is a versatile, low-nutrient substrate made from coconut coir, vermiculite, and azomite; a volcanic mineral powder delivering over 70 trace minerals. In mushroom cultivation, it’s added in small amounts to improve mineral balance, encourage vigorous mycelial growth, and create a more resilient environment. Being low-nutrient, CVA offers a forgiving option for growing beginner-friendly species like Pioppino and Oyster varieties.
Alien Dirt™ | Substrate from Outer Space
Alien Dirt™ is Mycelio’s premium manure-based substrate, engineered to deliver fast colonization, rich nutrition, and bigger harvests. Perfect for compost-loving gourmet species like portobello mushrooms and wine caps, Alien Dirt™ provides the ideal environment for cultivators who want out-of-this-world results.
Master’s Mix | Woodlover’s Option for Wellness Enthusiasts
Master’s Mix is a classic substrate blend crafted from hardwood sawdust and nutrient-rich soybean hulls. Specially formulated for functional mushrooms, it’s the top choice for species like lion’s mane and reishi.
Built-In FAE + Lab-Grade Sterility:
🔘 0.5 Micron Filter Patch – Ensures ideal gas exchange throughout colonization and fruiting while protecting against contaminants.
🔘 Self-Healing Injection Port – Sterile inoculation made simple. Works with liquid culture or spore syringes (not included).
🔘 Made in a Commercial Facility – Not a home kitchen. Every bag is prepped in a sterile environment for contamination-resistance, maximum cleanliness and consistency.
Key Features:
🟧 Ready to Use – No prep work needed. Just inoculate, incubate, and grow.
🟧 Clean & Contaminant-Free – Commercially sterilized and vacuum-sealed for reliability.
🟧 Versatile Fruiting Options – Grow directly in the bag or transfer to a monotub or fruiting chamber.

How to Use Your Grow Bag:

Mix – Once colonized, break up the grain and mix it evenly through the substrate.
Second Colonization – Allow another 2–3 weeks for the entire bag to recolonize.
Fruit – Cut an X or slice the top for in-bag fruiting, or move to a larger fruiting chamber.
