What is Sterile Grain?:
In mushroom cultivation, we use grains, like red milo sorghum, popcorn, or rye, that have been hydrated and then sterilized. The purpose is to kill any competing bacteria or mold so that when you introduce your mushroom culture, it’s the only thing that will grow inside your spawn bag.

What is Mushroom Substrate?
Mushroom substrate is like a specialized soil designed for mushrooms. It’s the material you mix your colonized grain into—typically inside a grow bag or monotub—to give your mycelium the ideal environment to spread out and produce mushrooms.
